Shots, Sobs, Sweets!

Gracie had her 6 month check-up today. She's up to 15 pounds, 8 ounces (50th percentile), and she's 26 inches long (90th!!). Her head circumference has gone up to 60th percentile, which has me a tiny bit worried, but her pediatrician did not seem concerned. We will see at her next check-up. She got 4 vaccines, 1 was oral. She had the same reaction to the shots: totally and utter dislike! She has continued to have a lot of pain in her legs this evening. I gave her some children's motrin and that seemed to alleviate the pain. It's so heartbreaking to see your baby in that much pain. She did get a little treat at Chik-fil-a today since she had to go through something so traumtic. She got to eat a few bites of her brother's ice cream and boy did she like it!

Here are a few pictures that I took in the waiting area. She was looking up because Alice in Wonderland was on the television.

Tutu Cute!

Well, every little girl must have her own tutu, right? I finally bought one for Gracie yesterday and had a mini photo session with her. Those who reads this blog (not sure if anyone does?) might think, where does she find time to take pictures? Well, let me tell you, it's not easy. If I have a few extra minutes, I'll dress her real quick and snap a few pictures. I know this fun baby stage will not last very long, so I'm trying to take advantage of it as best I can. She's my last baby and only girl. Sigh.

Playtime!

The other day I said "No" to the house chores and just sat on the floor and played with Gracie. She's getting really good at rolling from her belly to her back.
Getting so big!
She's also getting really good at sitting up. She's still kind of wobbily though and can only last a few seconds before she falls. Of course, I don't let her fall. I'm right there to catch her.

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

Wow, the time is flying by! I can't believe my sweet girl is already 6 months old (and on St. Patrick's Day too!). Everyday she just gets bigger and bigger! I feel like I'm holding a sack of potatoes! But when I compare her to her brothers, she looks so small. Here's Gracie's updates for this month:

  • I'm guessing she's probably around 15-16 lbs. We were at the doctor about 2 weeks ago, and they weighed her at about 14 lbs 14 oz.
  • She's in 6-9 month clothing. Some things she can wear 12 months.
  • She's gained great control of her hands and arms now. She loves trying to reach for stuff if it's within her reach. She especially likes to try to reach for things on the dinner table.
  • Her hair is longer on the top. It's kind of funny looking.
  • Her brothers still continue to dote on her. On our car drive home from Gulfport, David fed her for me twice so I wouldn't have to stop. He didn't even complain! He loves her a lot.
  • She takes 4-5 bottles a day. Most are 8 oz bottles. She eats banana and apple baby food with rice cereal mixed in. I really need to try some new fruit and vegetables.
  • She's turning into quite the little flirt. If people start talking to her, she just smiles so big at them. She loves to show off her cute dimples. She got a lot of attention at her daddy's work today. She got held by lots of people, and she didn't mind one bit. She was actually trying to chew on their badges.
  • I put her on her tummy the other day, and she was scooting a little bit! I think crawling is coming up soon.
  • She got to swing for the first time down in Mississippi. We took the kids to a really nice playground right across the street from the beach. She loved swinging and smiled so big.

Berry Cute!

Sitting Up Like a Big Girl (Almost!)

Miss Gracie trying to sit up, but still needing some assistance
Mommy let go for a few seconds, and she was a little wobbily!
She did pretty good, though, and she was even trying to catch herself with her hand.

Our Tuesday

Well, we've had a very nice day so far. We dropped the little guys off at MMO, then we went shopping at Target. While we were there, Gracie had a blowout all over her clothes, and I had to spend about 10 minutes getting the poor thing all cleaned up. For some mysterious reason she always has this problem when we go out somewhere. It doesn't matter where we go, she always has to get her outfit changed. I had to buy her a new sleeper because I forgot to pack an extra one.

We then met up with her Daddy at Jason's Deli for a lunch date. She was so good and just sat in her carseat and looked all around. It was really nice to have a quiet lunch with Greg! I got the muffaletta and gumbo (reminded me of home!).
After we got home she tried some apple baby food for the first time. She spit it out the first couple of bites, but then she started to like it and ate all of it!
I let her play with a real apple after she ate her baby food. I think she's ready for the real thing!
She found her tag. All of the boys loved tags when they were babies.
After she finished her lunch, she had a bath. She's so good for her bath. She just sits there so sweetly and smiles.
Mommy had to take some more pictures of her after her bath.
She found her toes!
"I see you Mommy, but I'm still liking my toes!"
At Target today I bought her a sunhat and some sunglasses.
I guess she'll use them to chew on!

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Well, Miss Gracie is all set up for spring and summer. This little girl has so many dresses that it's not even funny. She has some hand-me-downs from her cousin, Emma, and then she got a few more from the ladies in my Bible study group. And of course her mommy bought her a couple! I found some at the Carter's outlet store in Pigeon Forge. I got some really good deals! It's so hard to resist buying cute dresses when I see them, but I have to tell myself that she's got plenty and doesn't need anymore! I did buy her an Easter dress from this local baby boutique, Posh Mommy. They always have some of the sweetest smocked dresses. I got hers for a real good deal. It's got ladybugs and strawberries smocked on it. I am a sucker for anything with strawberries on it! I was going to get her a smocked dress with bunnies, but those kinds of dresses seem so impractical since they can only wear them once. I figured with her dress she can wear it all spring and summer. I also got her a bathing suit at Gymboree today! It's really cute with an ice cream cone and a ruffle around the waist. I love how little girl clothing has ruffles! Here's a few pictures of her dress and bathing suit.

I had a few things to do around the house the other day so I let Gracie watched a Baby Einstein video for the first time. She really like it at first but then she got distracted by the toys on her exersaucer.

I had to take her to the doctor on Wednesday because her eyes and nose had green discharge. The doctor told me that after kids have RSV they usually get a sinus infection later. So she was put on antibiotics (Omnicef).

Some sad news: My milk had almost completely dried up. I guess since I've slowly been weaning her, it finally just called it quits! I really haven't been making enough for her anyway. And my goal for breastfeeding her was 6 months, and she'll be 6 months very soon. So I'm proud of myself for making it this long. I've nursed her the longest out of all the kids.

Some pictures from this morning

Look at those dimples! I just want to give her kisses all the time!
She's such a good baby! She's happy and content 90% of the time!
I still look at her sometimes and am amazed she's a girl! It's still hard to believe!
So sweet and innocent
