Gracie's First Cereal!
Yesterday I gave her rice cereal for the first time, and she really liked it! As soon as I would take the spoon out of her mouth she would start wailing. I guess my girl likes to eat! She spit out the first two or three bites, but she quickly got the hang of it and was swallowing it down. Today I fed her some for lunch, and I mixed 1 tbsp of cereal with about 4 tbsp of formula. And she ate about half of it. I imagine she'll finally start to put on some weight!

5 months old!
Time flies when you've got 5 kids! Five months, I know that's not that long. But when I think back to September, it somehow seems so long ago. I guess because Gracie has changed so much since September 17th. I just realized that I'm actually doing a monthly update on the correct day. Gracie just had her bath and is nursing herself to sleep. Her brothers are taking naps, so I'm blogging with one hand. This sure gives my right arm a workout. Well, here is her update:
- She has a new nickname, Sissy.
- She's so long. Her legs hang over the arm rests on the computer chair now. She's quite snug in 3-6 months. 6-9 month clothing is quickly approaching. I can't wait to dress her in all those cute spring dresses.
- She tried rice cereal for the first time today. Mommy finally got around to buying some. Blog post coming soon all about that.
- She giggles now which is the cutest thing! I tickle her belly with my nose and that makes her giggle.
- She still likes playing in her exersaucer. She likes her playmat more these days. Before when I'd lay her down she stay on it for a minute and then start to cry. But this afternoon she laid on it for at least ten minutes while I did laundry.
- She finally started reaching out for toys!
- Her other big news is that I finally found the courage to let her sleep in her crib at night. The past two nights she's done fine. We have the monitor on, and we leave the door locked so that her brothers won't go in there and jump in the crib with her!
- She got her pictures made for the first time, and she did really well. The photographer had her sit in a basket, and she smiled so sweet for her. I get to order the pictures tomorrow and I'm very excited!

Tassles
Today Gracie was on her playmat, but she didn't want to play with the toys that are dangling from the mat. She kept looking over at the tassles on the skirt of her crib. So I laid her next to them to see what she'd do, and boy did she like playing with them! She must have laid there for 15 minutes. Surprise, surprise, her mommy took a bunch of pictures of her!

My sweet baby girl has RSV :( She got sick earlier this week, and so I took her to the doctor yesterday because she started sounding so much worse. Her cough sounded really bad, and she was running a fever of 102. So the nurse did a test to see if she had RSV and it was positive. I am worried that she could possibly have an ear infection because earlier tonight she was grabbing her left ear, and she just couldn't seem to get comfortable enough to sleep. She won't nurse on the right side because I think it hurts for her to lay on her left side. I gave her some infant Tylenol, and then I walked around with her and bounced her until she fell asleep. Right now she's sleeping. She's on a steroid for the RSV, and she's already had two doses. So hopefully she'll get to feeling better. But the doctor told me day #4 is usually the worst day, and that's tomorrow. Seeing your little baby sick just breaks your heart. This picture was taken earlier this evening when we were all in the little boys' room playing monster trucks.

Today Gracie had her four month checkup, and she now weighs 12 lbs 9 oz and is 25 inches long. She's actually 90th in height! She going to be tall! Her head circumference was 25th, which is not usual for one of our kids to have a small head! But she is a girl so maybe that's why! Dr. Dudley said she is doing fine. She does have a cold right now and Dr. Dudley said we'll probably almost always have someone sick in our large family! Gracie got some shots today and she has been in a lot of pain. Her legs are hurting her pretty bad and whenever you move her the wrong way or touch her legs she cries so hard. I feel so bad for her.
Dr. Dudley holding Gracie. She's been our pediatrician for almost 9 years now, and we love her!

This was after she got her shots. I actually woke her up accidentally after this picture because I tried moving the kitty away from her nose.

Four Months and Growing...
So Gracie is now .333333...... years old (so my husband the math whiz says)! Here's what she's doing now:
- Taking (2) 6 ounce bottles a day and 4 breastfeedings. She still nurses like a champ. It only takes her 10-15 minutes to nurse now.
- Likes gnawing on her hands.
- Will grab something and chew on it, but only if you put it on her chest.
- Sits in her exersaucer for awhile and plays. We usually put her in it while we exercise.
- Can roll onto her back now!
- She's got a very long body.
- Her 2 older brothers are becoming much more fond of her and like doting on her now, especially David. He asks to hold her alot.
- She's not spitting up after every feeding anymore, but still spits up sometimes.
- Sleeps from about 8:30 pm-6:30 am. I usually feed her around 11-11:30 pm but she goes right back to sleep.
- Still very smiley! She always gives me a smile right after she nurses.
- Talks and coos alot more than her brothers did.
- Not a big napper during the day, but she does usually take one long nap at least once daily. If there's activity going on around her, she won't sleep because she wants to see what's going on.
- Lastly, we think she's so cute, sweet, calm, perfect and so much more. We all love our baby girl. She's such a gift from God.

A Day at Home
Today we were at home all day, which was nice. Spending time at home with the kids is great. Gracie had a good day. She ate, slept, ate, slept. She did get a bath today, which was her big event of the day.
I realize this blog is just my excuse to dress her up and take pictures of her! She really doesn't have any big news. I have a blog on our family website where I write about the boys: www.gregandtracey.us I made her blog through Blogger because I find it easier to upload pics here than through Wordpress (which is what we use to blog with on our family site). I also like getting to pick out the cute backgrounds (girly stuff!). I get them for free here. I read this one mother's blog, Kelly's Korner, and before I had Gracie I couldn't understand why she would take pics of her daughter everyday wearing different outfits. Now I understand! It's so much fun!
